Martin leads our Specialist Audit and Assurance Services team. He joined Audit New Zealand in 2007, after 10 years with the Audit Commission in the United Kingdom.
Martin specialises in providing assurance around procurement processes, contract management, asset and project management. He also leads the advice and support his team provides for our annual audit work.
Some of his most notable work includes:
- contributing to local authorities, large and small, on asset management in support of their long-term plans. Many of his insights are shared in Asset management and long-term planning: learning from audit findings 2015 to 2017;
- providing probity assurance to CERA, and more recently Ōtākaro, over the anchor projects that form the backbone of the Canterbury rebuild;
- providing probity assurance over high profile, complex procurement, including the Ministry of Education’s three Public Private Partnerships; and
- managing performance management and assurance for a £3 billion community programme run by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in the United Kingdom.
Martin has a Bachelor of Science in Geomatics and a Masters of Business Administration with Distinction. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, and of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is a PRINCE2, P2Agile, MoP, and P3O Project Management Practitioner.
