Kia Ora, I am Issy Spencer and I am an accounting student at the University of Canterbury.

So when I was looking for an Internship Programme, I knew that I wanted to be a part of a supportive team that really gave back to the community.

I was surprised by how the work I was doing actually had a really positive impact. It was a really great opportunity to be responsible for a whole section on an audit. I had amazing guidance during my time here at Audit New Zealand and contributing something useful made me feel really valued.

Spending a week in the Office of the Auditor-General in and around Parliament was a real highlight during my time here. Also, traveling and meeting clients face to face was a really awesome experience.

Our intern group was really supportive during our time. We started out as strangers and added each other on social media and have quickly become genuine friends.

My advice for future interns at Audit New Zealand is that the people that you work with really want you to succeed. The Culture is extremely supportive, and question is too small. So, if you're considering applying for an internship at Audit New Zealand, I definitely would say do it.
