Anthony joined us as an Audit Director in October 2024. He is an Appointed Auditor responsible for leading the audit of public sector financial statements on behalf of the Auditor-General.
Anthony's portfolio includes:
- Government departments; and
- Crown entities.
Before joining Audit New Zealand, Anthony spent the last 10 years leading the development of public sector accounting standards in New Zealand and internationally. From 2016 to 2023 he was the Director of Accounting Standards at the External Reporting Board (XRB). In 2024, Anthony was a Principal at the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB).
Before his roles as a standard-setter, Anthony had over 16 years providing professional accountancy services across the for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sector. He held senior leadership positions at Grant Thornton providing assurance and technical advisory services, specialising in IPSAS and IFRS implementation and interpretation.
Anthony is a graduate of Victoria University Wellington and a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ FCA).
